It is cool to unlock blueprints from island to island but it would way cooler if players could spend a part of their currency towards carrier upgrades (These could include small upgrades like Advanced HUD in the control room to more substantial-assault upgrades like more land or air vehicles in the garages with ready to deploy buttons). Other types of upgrades I thought could be more powerful side-thruster engines or a double runway with the extra elevator, maybe a more advanced radar or naval camera. Some could be even game-breaking like unlocking all blueprints or allowing players to use the satellite used from in the beginning of the game's campaign but they would be very costly and require beating many three to four shield islands. Upgrades towards land and air vehicles could also be purchased (These could include upgrades to speed, armor, or ammo) they could be less than the carrier upgrades but still costlier than purchasing vehicles. Extra assault vehicles can be purchased; players can purchase the swordfish and use it to recon or defense against enemy carriers; they can be produced from barge islands. These could all be purchased from the Trade and Stock Screen, a Research tab could show all applicable upgrades. Unlike blueprints players have the option of selecting upgrades they want to use and style their carrier how they want to play. Upgrades are still dependent on players winning islands and collecting currency but this would get rid of some of the static-ness felt in the later stretch of the game. I think this would also increase the replayability of the game and make campaigns more longer and interesting. I think if you add this with also the choice of choosing your own carrier color, emblem and ship name from in the beginning would make campaigns more unique and different from the last one, especially for solo. Upgrades could be applied to enemy computer carrier (amount of upgrades would be dependent on difficulty assigned at start). If players don't like them and don't want them in multiplayer then upgrades can be rid of completely or the exact opposite can be done with also increasing currency given at the start of the game. I'm no coder or programmer and not sure how feasible this all sounds but if anyone had similar ideas and think it is a good suggestion let me know.
