Seconded. This is a common feature in most games nowadays. If there's a concern about 'making it too easy', this could be tied to an 'Ironman' or 'Hardcore' setting that removes autosaves for a greater challenge.

This is highly recommended, with a save point upon island capture being highly desirable. I lost a few hours of solo play from a bear sniping at my carrier, and I was out flying a drone.

Autosave would be a feature most welcome. I have to agree, many times I've had a CTD right after a major engagement, only to find I have to backtrack the last hour or so of play and do it all over...
