Repro: At the start of a new game, with the carrier stationary, launch both razorbills that are equipped. They will immediately collide and either severely damage or destroy one another. Having them move a bit to clear the airspace or having the AI attempt to avoid hitting one another would be a lot better.

This is not a game issue, this is a player issue.
Do not just click/spam the release buttons on the outside of the console.
Go into the unit control screen. Click on the carrier. Click on a helicoper, you will then be prompted to select a position for the helicopter to fly to. Of course, the helicopters will crash into each other as you are not giving them instructions. The airplanes will fly all the way accross the map unless you give them instructions.
Try it.
