With the coming Stormworks update for natural disasters, the future ahead of the game looks interesting, yet possibly scary for some players. Some players will want to find these disasters, and some will want to run away. With these aspects of the new update in mind, I have some suggestions.
- New Sensors:
- Barometers:
- These instruments can detect pressure changes and can help determine the locations of special weather events.
- Seismometers:
- These devices can be placed near the volcanoes on the map. They can output a number from (-1 to 1) depending on the seismic activity. The shaking of the earth deep within will cause the seismometer to receive seismic readings, and in some cases, can alert players to an impending eruption. The seismometers also give way for the possibility of earthquakes being added.
- Scatterometers:
- These block-mounted instruments can be used to detect noise on the ocean surface. The noise mentioned may be a whirlpool, tsunami, or in some cases, a waterspout. The block may output an on/off signal if it finds something and a number that indicates the severity of the noise. Also, an advanced version of the block may be available that outputs the geographical coordinates of the noise.
- Satellite Dishes/New Radars:
- A special radar can be attached to large vehicles that can communicate with satellites orbiting the earth. This radar acts as an alerting radar. The satellites can see abrupt weather motions, such as Hurricanes, Lightning, Tornadoes/Waterspouts, and can help predict an impact zone for meteor strikes. The cost of having such a large and powerful radar would be a large price tag, along with a heavy mass.
- New Equipment:
- Specialized Gas Masks/Suits:
- These suits can allow players to get close to a volcano without breathing toxic ash or being exposed to extreme temperatures.
- Weather Radios:
- These Radios will transmit a signal if a weather event is happening in the players area
- Map Overlays
- A new map overlay that has the intensity of the storms, as well as the locations of hurricanes.
I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I hope that you consider adding these to the game
